KVM® (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) is a free hypervisor for Linux®. KVM® is integrated in the Linux kernel.

A Linux server can host other operating systems running on following architectures:

• x86_32, x86_64: Linux®, Windows®
• PPC: Linux®, Mac OSX®
• SPARC: Solaris®
• etc.
